Health

Nobody told me when I was born that the price of admission was mortality. Sigh. At age 68 I have also learned that even though I might keep it for a good while, my body was not going to stay in the shape that it was in when I was 19. If we and our loved ones do have to suffer illnesses, there is clearly comfort in communion with others about these misfortunes. I read Elizabeth Cohen's beautiful but sad account of her father's Alzheimer's, The Family on Beartown Road: A Memoir of Love and Courage just a few years after my own family experienced the problem. But it's a good read for anyone.
